കേരള ചരിത്രം പഠിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ സമത്വസുന്ദരമായ, മാവേലിനാടുപോലെ മാനുഷരെല്ലാരുമൊന്നുപോലെ ജീവിച്ച, ഒരു കേരളം കാണാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ല. ഒരു ന്യൂനപക്ഷം സുഖത്തോടെയും, ഭൂരിപക്ഷം വിഷമിച്ചും ജീവിചിരുന്നതായാണ് മനസ്സിലാവുന്നത്. ഒരു കാര്ഷികൊത്സവമായിരുന്ന ഓണത്തെ മതവുമായി ബന്ധിപ്പിച്ചു അതിനു മഹത്വം കൊടുക്കുകയായിരുന്നു തല്‍പ്പരകക്ഷികള്‍. ഒരു സമത്വസുന്ദരമായ ലോകത്തെ കുറിച്ചുള്ള സംകല്പം മാത്രമാണ് ഓണത്തിന് പിന്നിലുള്ളതെന്നാണ് എനിക്ക് തോന്നുന്നത്. അങ്ങിനെ ഒന്നുണ്ടാവുമെന്നു തോന്നുന്നില്ല, ഇപ്പോള്‍ ലോകത്തിന്റെ അവസ്ഥ കാണുമ്പോള്‍

ഇന്നത്തെ കേരളത്തിന്റെ സാമ്പത്തിക, സാമൂഹ്യ, സാംസ്കാരികവ്യവഹാരങ്ങളും ചിന്തകളുമെല്ലാം വാസ്തവത്തിൽ കേരളീയമാണോ? അരിയും പഴങ്ങളും പച്ചക്കറികളും വേഷവിധാനങ്ങളും (ചുരിദാറും, സാരിയും, സാമ്പാറുമെല്ലാം) ഇറക്കുമതിയും കടം വാങ്ങിയവയുമല്ലേ? എന്താണു കേരളീയത? എന്തുകൊണ്ടു നാം ഉപഭോഗത്തിൽ മാത്രം തത്പരരായി? Hope your blog will create meaningful discussions on such diversifying topics apart from political issues. That will be a great relief from media-created gossips.
